This newly engineered 3-ton 3-Tier Scissor Lift Table has been custom-manufactured by our technical team to automate vertical material transfer at an industrial facility in Melbourne, Australia. Our client, operating a high-intensity multi-level warehousing center, required a robust, highly durable vertical cargo elevator to transfer heavy machinery parts, raw steel pallets, and bulk packaging containers.

The vertical stroke required was 4.16 meters, which demanded a three-tier scissor arm linkage to achieve the necessary extension height while maintaining a compact, closed footprint that retracts flush into a shallow 840mm floor pit. Because the warehouse environment is subject to high condensation and abrasive dust, we avoided standard steel finishes.

Instead, we designed this customized fixed scissor lift  table utilizing fully hot-dip galvanized structural components. This heavy-duty system is fully certified to comply with strict Australian AS 1418.8 crane and hoist safety standards [https://www.standards.org.au/] and European EN 1570-1 safety requirements .

Challenge & Solution

Challenge

The primary mechanical challenge of designing a triple-stage scissor table is preventing lateral sway (horizontal oscillation) and dynamic deck deflection under off-center loads. As the platform extends 4.16 meters vertically, any minor tolerance error in the arm joints becomes magnified, potentially causing the platform to wobble.

We addressed this challenge through rigorous structural engineering:

  • High-Tensile Rectangular Scissor Arms: We fabricated the scissor linkages using twelve heavy-wall 200×100×6 mmrectangular structural steel tubes, providing exceptional bending resistance under a full 3-ton capacity.

  • Heavy-Duty 16# Channel Steel Frames: Both the top platform frame and the base chassis are constructed from heavy 16# structural channel steel, with a solid 6mm thick anti-slip checkered steel plate to withstand dynamics wheel loads from heavy pallet jacks.

  • Auxiliary Stabilizing Guide Roller System: To completely eliminate lateral swaying at maximum extension, we welded four heavy-duty guide rollers directly beneath the 2,500 mm long sides of the platform (two rollers per side). These rollers run smoothly inside four matching 5.5 m long,

    75 mm

wide vertical guide rails positioned 375mm away from the deck edges. This rigid guiding system prevents any sway, ensuring smooth, linear, and rock-solid vertical movement.

Solution

To provide maximum rust and chemical corrosion resistance for the highly humid ocean-climate environment of Melbourne, we ensured the entire steel structure underwent hot-dip galvanization. The thick zinc layer bonds chemically with the steel substrate, providing decades of maintenance-free operation.

The lifting movement is powered by a high-torque 5.5 kW external hydraulic pump station coupled to dual heavy-duty Φ100 mmcylinders with Φ27 mmhigh-pressure hydraulic hoses. To perfectly match Australia’s industrial power supply, we wound the electric motor windings specifically for 3-phase, 415V AC, 50Hz power grids.

Because shipping freight costs have experienced extreme inflation, we optimized the entire package to fit inside a standard 20GP shipping container. We constructed the platform and scissor structures with a compact profile, ensuring the overall width of the wooden packing crates did not exceed 2.2 m. This flat-pack engineering enabled us to ship the massive machine alongside other cargo, saving the client significant ocean freight costs.

Prior to packing, we pre-assembled and tested the entire triple-scissor lift in our factory yard to guarantee perfect mechanical alignment and zero pressure leaks.
