Challenge
Transitioning heavy, tightly wound copper wire coils on an active packing line presented several mechanical and spatial challenges for our team to resolve:
-
Coil Surface Scuffing and Heavy Transition Friction: Moving 3-ton copper coils onto a flat steel tilting bed required extreme manual pushing force, causing friction scratches on the outer protective insulation layers of the wire.
-
Incompatible Platform Assembly Orientations: In the horizontal loading phase, the auxiliary support deck must lie flat to clear space and merge with floor-level operations. However, during the 90-degree tilt, this deck must instantly stand up to form a rigid, precise 90-degree corner to safely secure the heavy coil.
-
Inconsistent Coiling Dimensions and Security: The cable plant processes coils of varying widths and diameters. A static platform could not secure different coil shapes, risking lateral slips during the 60-second hydraulic rotation.
Solution
Structural Engineering of the FZ-03 Hydraulic Upender
To resolve these operational issues, our team combined heavy-duty hydraulic mechanics with a modular, dual-purpose platform interface to deliver a highly reliable, damage-free tilting system.
-
Integrated Gravity Roller Conveyor Section: We built a 700×700 mm700×700 mm unpowered roller conveyor directly into the center of the 1,600×1,300 mm1,600×1,300 mm large flat platform. This allows operators to easily roll heavy coils on and off the platform, minimizing physical labor and eliminating surface friction damage.
-
Manually Adjustable Folding Auxiliary Platform: We designed the 1,300×1,300 mm1,300×1,300 mm small platform to be fully adjustable. When the large deck is horizontal, operators can lay the small deck flat to clear floor space; during the hydraulic tilt, it stands up to form a rigid 90-degree angle to provide a secure physical stop for the 3-ton load.
-
Pre-Drilled Modular Fixture Holes & Speed Calibration: We pre-drilled Φ18Φ18through-holes spaced at 200mm intervals along both outer edges of the large platform for adjustable peg fixtures. Power is supplied by a 4.0kW hydraulic unit configured with adjustable throttle control in accordance with ISO 4413 hydraulic standards, delivering a highly smooth, adjustable 90-degree cycle time under 60 seconds.
