This newly developed Synchronized Scissor Lift system utilizes dual-platform hydraulic coordination to automate heavy pipeline installation for a manufacturing facility in Singapore. Our client, Perfab Engineering, a leading mechanical contracting firm specializing in industrial piping and plant setup, faced a major operational bottleneck. During their overhead MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping) installation projects, they had to lift extremely long, heavy industrial steel gas pipe segments up to 8 meters in length and align them with overhead structural supports at a height of 4 meters.

Lifting these massive pipes using a single, narrow lift table was structurally unstable and created severe tipping hazards. However, using two independent lifts was also rejected because any slight difference in lifting speed would tilt the pipe, risking catastrophic drops or structural warping.

To solve this challenge, we bypassed standard single-unit lifts and developed a high-precision, synchronized dual-scissor array. This custom-configured fixed scissor lift  system utilizes a centralized hydraulic power unit and a high-precision flow divider motor to elevate both platforms in perfect alignment, fully compliant with European EN 1570-1 safety requirements and ISO 12100 safety principles.

Challenge & Solution

Challenge

The primary engineering challenge of this Singaporean project was maintaining absolute vertical synchronization between two completely separate 3-ton scissor tables. Even a minor flow variance in the hydraulic fluid lines would cause one platform to rise faster than the other, creating an uneven vertical offset of the heavy, long-span pipe.

We resolved this by designing an advanced, centralized electro-hydraulic control architecture:

  • Centralized High-Pressure Pump & Synchronous Motor: Both scissor platforms are powered by a single, high-capacity hydraulic pump station driven by a premium 3kW Wannan motor (Class II efficiency, AC 415V, 50Hz). The high-pressure fluid flow (Φ18 mm 3-layer steel wire mesh hoses) is managed by an integrated high-precision hydraulic synchronization motor/manifold. This manifold physically divides the hydraulic oil flow into equal, identical streams, forcing both Φ80 mm Hengyu cylinders to extend and retract in perfect synchronicity with zero vertical variance.

  • Digital Display Control System: The control cabinet utilizes a customized digital display control module. This system constantly monitors cylinder pressure and stroke parity. It features an integrated overpressure relief valve and Japanese-imported NOK cylinder seals to eliminate pressure leakage, guaranteeing millimetric level-holding accuracy over long, high-frequency pipeline alignment procedures.

Solution

Since piping installations must move progressively along the factory ceiling, mobility and fast job-site setup were critical requirements for our client. We engineered a highly rigid and versatile mobile structural base for both units.

  • Rigid Manganese Steel Scissor Linkage: We constructed each three-tier scissor mechanism using thick, solid 25×140 mmmanganese flat steel arms, supported by a heavy-duty 16# channel steel platform frame. This structural rigidity limits vertical deflection to less than 1/1200th of the span, protecting the pipeline assembly from dynamic vibration.

  • Double-Sided Mobilty and Leveling Outriggers: To allow technicians to easily navigate the workshop floor, the base of each platform is equipped with four 5-inch heavy-duty polyurethane universal casters with integrated safety brakes. When rolled into position, the operator deploys the four manual mechanical outrigger jacks welded to the frame corners. These stabilizers lift the casters off the ground, anchoring and leveling the entire 800mm high base securely to the concrete floor.

  • Fail-Safe Redundant Safety Packages: The electrical system features integrated phase-loss protection to protect the 415V motor from burning out, while each cylinder is fitted with internal explosion-proof safety lock-valves to prevent sudden descent in case of hose damage.
