An international manufacturer of off-highway mining vehicle powertrains in Katowice, Poland, required a safe and highly stable solution to rotate heavy electric wheel drive components. These components including cast iron bases (1.8 tons), heavy hubs (1.5 tons), ring gears, and drive motors need to undergo a complex 90-degree tilting, 180-degree crane rotation, and subsequent 90-degree return-tilting assembly sequence. Handling these highly machined parts using standard rigging methods posed severe risks of surface scratches and structural misalignment.
To streamline their assembly line, we engineered and manufactured a custom FZ-08 8-ton mechanical upender. This machine incorporates a dual-row chain drive, SEW-Eurodrive motors, Schneider electrical controls, and fully non-metallic contact interfaces. By installing this system, we successfully integrated a secure, repeatable, and scratch-free 90-degree tilting station into the client’s precision assembly workflow.
