This newly engineered Mechanical Scissor Lift system utilizes synchronized rigid chain technology to lift 4,000 kg structural steel pipes at a major industrial fabrication facility in Selangor, Malaysia. Our client, a leading supplier of offshore oil-and-gas pipelines and structural steel trusses, was facing a major material handling challenge. They needed to elevate highly flexible, extremely long steel tubes up to 12 meters (39.4 ft) in length to feed automated beveling and welding stations.
Lifting these elongated, heavy steel tubes on a single, massive lift table was physically impractical due to the structural deflection (bending) of the overhanging tube ends. Additionally, hydraulic systems were strictly rejected by the client’s plant safety guidelines due to the high risk of fluid leaks contaminating the precision welding interfaces.
To overcome these challenges, we bypassed conventional single-unit hydraulic designs and developed a modular synchronized lifting array consisting of four individual mechanical platforms driven by high-rigidity push-chain technology, fully compliant with European EN 1570-1 safety standards for lift tables.
