A major industrial pressure vessel and pipeline manufacturer based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, required a reliable and controlled method to rotate massive cylindrical workpieces. Previously, the facility relied on overhead cranes and manual rigging to flip 3-meter-long (9.8 ft) pressure vessels with diameters ranging from 2,500 mm to 7,000 mm (8.2 to 23.0 ft) by 90 degrees for welding and structural inspection. To streamline production, minimize labor hours, and prevent potential damage to the vessel walls, the plant integrated our custom 20-ton hydraulic upender with a specialized physical support structure.
